I'm committed to providing a warm, respectful and non-judgemental counselling service to everyone, and to treating every client fairly and as an individual.
Welcoming everyone
I don't discriminate on the basis of any of the characteristics protected by the Equality Act 2010 — age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, and sexual orientation — or on the basis of other differences such as your background, neurodivergence, health or immigration status. I work in line with the BACP Ethical Framework, which commits me to respecting diversity and to not letting prejudice affect the way I work.
Working respectfully with difference
I reflect on my own values and assumptions through supervision and ongoing training, and I aim to work in a way that's sensitive to your culture, identity and experience. I use inclusive language and respect how you describe yourself, including your pronouns.
Accessibility
I'll make reasonable adjustments wherever I can. My counselling room is on the top floor of Trafalgar House and, as there's no lift, it isn't wheelchair accessible — if the room isn't suitable for you, we can look at online or telephone sessions, or I can point you towards a more accessible service. I can provide information in other formats on request, and I'd encourage you to tell me about any access or communication needs as early as possible.
Respect and safety
I don't tolerate discrimination, harassment or abusive behaviour, and I'll address it if it happens. If anything about my service doesn't feel inclusive or accessible, I'd genuinely like to hear — you can talk to me directly or use my complaints procedure.
